May 11 (Wed) - Lackawanna Longnecks The Allegheny County Coalition for Recovery is comprised of advocates for individuals with mental health problems and/or addictions, county behavioral health professionals, provider agencies and consumers of behavioral health services. The group was established in 2002 by the Allegheny County Department of Human Services to promote public awareness of the ability of people who have suffered from mental illness and/or addictive disorders to recover and go on to live happy, productive lives. The Recovery Fair offers venue for people recovering from mental illness and substance abuse. It is open to the public and features information tables staffed by behavioral health providers and speakers who share their personal journeys through recovery. The purpose of the event is to support the efforts of individuals currently in recovery and to inform those who are seeking help in overcoming their illnesses about the resources available to them. |
